Overview

Graph Scaler makes Obsidian's fixed graph and editor boundaries configurable. Its most visible behavior is uncapped graph node sizing, but the plugin also exposes controls for labels, animation, forces, embeds, search, zoom, font size, sidebar width, and canvas behavior.

The plugin is opt-in at the feature level: Node Sizing is enabled by default and the other patches can be turned on independently. That keeps an experimental control available without forcing every internal override onto every vault.

Methodology

The plugin patches selected Obsidian internal methods at runtime and replaces their fixed bounds with settings-backed functions. For node sizing, link weight is read live and mapped through a square-root or linear growth curve instead of being clipped at the native 30px cap.

Patches are registered as disposable resources and restored during plugin unload, avoiding permanent changes to the host application. Settings remain the boundary for activation, range selection, and zero-cost disabled features.

What it does

  • Uncapped square-root or linear graph node sizing
  • Configurable text-label fade ranges and visibility
  • Unlimited or custom graph animation idle frames
  • Expanded force, link-distance, embed-depth, and search limits
  • Adjustable sidebar, app zoom, canvas breakpoint, tab size, and font range
  • Independently toggled settings with clean unload restoration
