About
Blake Paulson
I’m a software engineer and high school senior interested in quantitative modeling, scientific computing, machine learning systems, and performance-oriented software. Most of my work sits somewhere between mathematics and engineering: modeling financial events, optimizing local inference systems, building retrieval infrastructure, and experimenting with physically based simulation.
I tend to work from the underlying model outward. That usually means understanding the mathematics first, building a reproducible implementation, and then worrying about interfaces, performance, or deployment. I’m especially interested in projects where software is being used to model something rather than simply automate it.
Outside of software, I wrestle varsity at Mundelein High School and spend a lot of time studying quantitative finance, mathematics, and machine learning. I’m currently finishing high school while continuing independent engineering and research projects.
